Frank Davis s Leadership Style - 1290 Words

Boss, Frank Davis’s leadership can be characterized as highly task-oriented but low-relationship oriented. He is constantly concerned with the with means of achieving goals. For example, when Davis tells McDonald that, â€Å"with the right sales strategy, my projections are attainable,† he is referring to adherence to a proper strategy to achieve a target. Similarly, his desire to monitor operations is exemplified when he claims that email updates, fancy presentations, and models are, â€Å"not only good politics, but also proved to [him] that [Thomas Green] was working effectively.† In contrast, Davis’s task-orientation is complemented by low relationship-oriented leadership style. His failure to befriend and accommodate Green is seen countless time throughout the conflict and his perception of how the job should be done is rigidly against a networking approach. When he calls upon Green to â€Å"stop making calls purely for the purpose of meeting peopleà ¢â‚¬  in an email to McDonald, Davis explicitly shows his lack value placed in relationships. Similarly, after Green expressed his concerns with the sales projections, Davis tells McDonald that â€Å"Thomas’s negative attitude is not what we need on this team,† and the directly continues by explaining why the projections (or tasks) that he set can and should be attained. This blatant hasty attack on Green’s character shows his lack of commitment to developing a relationship with green.
